I’m relocating from another state and want to avoid surprises.
What steps should I take before moving into a new apartment?

Before moving, confirm the lease details, including utilities, maintenance responsibilities, and any included amenities. Arrange for utilities—electricity, water, internet—to be activated before arrival. Verify the condition of the apartment with a move‑in inspection and document any existing damages. Keep copies of the lease, utility agreements, and contact information for the property manager. It’s also wise to explore local services for furniture delivery and storage.
