Quality of Life in Anqing

Anqing, also known as 'Yicheng', is a prefecture-level city situated in the southwest of Anhui province, People's Republic of China. Nestled on the north bank of the Yangtze River, it boasts a diverse landscape ranging from riverine plains to the mountainous hinterland of the Dabie Mountains. The city is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, notably as the birthplace of Huangmei Opera, a captivating art form that gained immense popularity since the 1950s. Anqing also holds historical significance as the birthplace of Chen Duxiu, a key figure in the founding of the Chinese Communist Party. While it has remained a medium-sized provincial city, Anqing serves as an important commercial center for the plain north of the Yangtze and a market for tea produced in the surrounding mountains.
