What options exist for primary education for my 7‑year‑old?

Finsterwalde offers several primary schools administered by the regional school authority. These schools follow the state curriculum and provide instruction in German, with optional support for non‑German‑speaking children. Enrollment is typically based on the child’s residence, and you can register through the city’s education department or the school’s online portal. For families seeking additional language support, many schools have integration classes or after‑school programs. You can also explore private or international options in nearby larger towns if you prefer an English‑based curriculum. The school authority’s website lists contact details, enrollment deadlines and information on transportation to school.
